The eve of our departure

Thelma has arrived! If the purpose of this trip was to be going outside our comfort zone, we could stop right now. We’ve never pulled anything behind our car, much less a 6’ x 12’ U-Haul trailer. Affectionately known as Thelma, she’ll be our workhorse and nerve Center for the next 67 days.

We spent the evening with our wonderful Deer Mountain friends at a very special send off hosted by Ellen, Karen and Ben. Michelle capped the evening off with delicious Cycling Across the USA cupcakes . We are so lucky, excited and nervous…

    1. Thanks Lora! We’ve had 3 great days so far! And pretty good weather as well. Getting used to the cars whizzing by…. The trucks – they’re a different matter! 😬

  1. so funny thing. About your name for that U-Haul Mark’s mom’s name is Thelma. I just want to know who is Louise. Ha ha ha meanwhile it looks like you guys are having a blast.

  2. Both Karen and I will be closely following your adventure. Looks like a beautiful start. You will make memories of a lifetime.

What a thrill to read all the blog posts!

Congratulations on a strong and joyful start! May the force of the universe carry you forward and onward safely and in good health…

If feasible, and as we are in the DC metro area, we are pondering the possibility of joining the welcoming committee
    in Yorktown…
