HAPPY JULY 4th!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
What a day!
Pretty easy riding for the first 42 miles. We went through the gold mining towns of Nevada City and Virginia City which are both national historic landmarks (who knew?) Being towns 2 miles from each other and heavy duty mining (and railroad and thriving and murder) hubs, the towns have proudly kept their “western” heritage and hanging out there was a delight, especially on July 4th.

We started out earlier than usual this morning to avoid traffic. By the time we reached Ennis, traffic was a steady flow, which has us mildly concerned about this weekend’s rides through Yellowstone. Our friends Bret and Judy arrived in time for afternoon beers in the hotel parking lot (so classy!) while we waited for dinner time.
After strolling through Main Street (it’s a cute town!) we ended up at the Ennis Rodeo to experience a truly Western style 4th. Bucking broncos, Barrel racing, calf roping and trick riding were fun to watch (calf roping is far more humane than I ever remembered it as a kid, btw).
The evening sky was spectacular- even without fireworks as we went to bed before it was completely dark – early day tomorrow!
Happy 4th, Tammy.
Safe travels tomorrow and remember. . .do not pet the fluffy cows if you see any.
Keep on biking.🚵🚵
