Our final day!!!!!
3,969 miles, 11 states, 51 cycling days, 1 COVID day and memories to last a lifetime!
We’re still finding it hard to believe that this trip of a lifetime is over. We’ve literally enjoyed every day. Of course there were highs and lows, but the lows never exceeded the highs.
Olivia rode on the back of my bike the first 16 miles, with her mom and dad riding as well. That was the highlight of the day, to say the least!
All was going well until the last 20 miles when the Colonial Parkway was CLOSED. Shut. Detour, no more info. Mark and I rarely had cranky words with one another but being so close to the finish and having no idea where we were, with Google maps and Ride With GPS telling us conflicting directions we just wanted to explode at each other. We kept being put on either 6 lane highways (no stress there!) or super fast 2 lane highways with no shoulders. At one point Google sent us on a gravel road through a trailer park. So close, yet so far!
In the next few days Mark and I will be reflecting on the ride, the challenges, the highs and lows along with anecdotes from the past 57 days. What this means is there’ll be more blogs, at least until next Saturday when we return home to Park City, UT. In the meantime we plan to spend the next three days with family and friends, dealing with post-ride logistics, and enjoying our granddaughter.
To those of you who have so generously donated to the American Cancer Society, a huge, heartfelt thank you.
If you would like to donate, there’s still time to hit the button on this Blog page or the About page.
CONGRATULATIONS!! We were never in doubt that you would complete and completely enjoy this adventure. What an accomplishment. Almost as amazing was your commitment to keep us all engaged and informed through your daily blog posts. The pictures, videos, stories, jokes, and your capture of Americana were entertaining and informative. Thank you! Looking forward to your return to PC. Have fun with your family and hugs to Brad and Sue!
Congratulations on an amazing journey! Wow!! We are so impressed on so many levels!! Enjoy your celebration of your bike trip of a lifetime!! Love, Libby and John

Congratulations 🍾🎈🎊
Creating moments and memories of a lifetime. Inspiring, reminding us that anything is possible if we follow our passion and desire to make a difference!!
Thanks for sharing your journey, we are all blessed to have been cheering from the sidelines 🙏🏻
Wow! You two are amazing. And the Corny Video might be my fav.
Enjoy the rest and reflections with the family and remember to cut about 4000 calories out of your diet.
One request: A Mr Universe pose from both of you. Those quads and calves have to be granite by now 😁.
Thanks for sharing and congrats on a ridiculous accomplishment.
Yay Olivia! Good to see you catching “cycle fever” at such a tender age! Great accomplishment, all! 👏👏👏
Wow, spectacular trip and huge bravo and brava. Congrats, rest and recover, and savor.
Awesome! Congrats you two!!
Outstanding accomplishment. Few things are better than a Trip of a Lifetime and the memories you’ll carry forever.
Congratulations on achieving your goal and completing the Trans America ride! And thankfully with no major incidents, despite some trepidations on a few of the busy stretches. You got a bikers, backroads, view of much of America, and from reading your blog had the time of your life. Such an accomplishment!! I’m in awe of your stamina. Kudos to both of you for being such an inspiration.
Congrats Tammy and Mark! What an accomplishment! So amazed at your endurance! Way to go!Enjoy the rest! Love Tracey and Jim Rhea
Contrary to what Judy List said, we all had out doubts (though some were regarding whether you’d finish…and others were wondering if you’d still be married at the end of the trip :-))…..but you showed us! Congrats on both the accomplishment and the money you raised for the American Cancer Society.
Many congratulation. Amazing feat. Amazing blog. Amazing charity😘
