Damascus is a really pretty town and a crossroads for 7 nationally known trails – the Transamerica Bike Trail that we’re on, the Appalachian Trail, the Virginia Creeper trail among others we’d never heard of. There are lots of quaint homes, B&Bs, shops and TONS of bike rental and shuttle shops. We stayed in a really nice lodge on the river last night, Sue and Brad cooked a fab dinner and we didn’t want to leave!
As it’s Sunday we thought we’d send a few pics of churches along our route today. A note of interest – in Kansas, Missouri, southern Illinois and even Kentucky there seemed to be one church per resident. As we’ve come further east the churches are must less prevalent. No idea why.
Our ride was beautiful, especially as we went zipping downhill for about 10 miles. We were so into it that we whizzed right past Sue and Brad and had a stressful moment of no phone/satellite comms to find each other!
Reminds me of the bicycle we bought at that shop in Utah. I still think that piece of artwork is fantastic. I hope you never get rid of it all in all. What a great trip, huh?
So fun following you guys! Keep it up!
Have the number of bars increased? 😁
