Day 50 – Breaks Interstate Park, vA to Damascus, VA – 76 miles

And a lot of elevation gain – 6276 feet – the most of the whole trip (so far)

Beautiful day in terms of temperature, humidity and landscape but brutal in terms of hills. Today’s posts will be mostly visual – we’ve no internet so bear with us……

It’s so pretty here
View from breakfast early morning
Gorgeous countryside

We loved today. The uphills were brutal but the downhills were THE BEST!!!! People here are super friendly – I said “hidey” to a group of motorcyclists as I was going downhill and they all loved it – more accolades than my 3rd grade dance recital!

This is a very special part of Appalachia – less poverty but you can tell still very embedded in its roots. We’re enjoying it immensely.

Before we started on our 1500 foot very steep climb there was a bench with the following inscription “I’d turn back now if I were you”. If we had a choice – good advice. That climb was a killer and Mark was a beast getting to the top.

We love the Virginia Creeper that’s taking over all the landscape
