Day 4 – Hood River, OR to Maryhill Winery, WA – 48 miles

Don’t you just love how we ended up at a winery? Yeah, we planned it that way. Good thing too cuz it was HOT HOT HOT out there. 95 degrees. Maryhill winery has a fun 7-wine flight tasting and great food – perfect spot to end the day overlooking the Columbia River Gorge.

Beers yesterday, but it still wouldn’t be a cycle blog without ice cream today
Maryhill winery. We liked the Zinfandel (what put them on the map) and Chardonnay best.
Just plain fun

Today was Ellie’s last day with us on the front end (she’ll join us at the very end) and we’re super sad to see her go. She’s been a patient, calming, wonderful addition to our team and we loved every minute with her. There’s something so special about when your kids volunteer to spend time with you. 💕💕💕

We rode through vineyards, cherry and apricot orchards, past a huge hydroelectric dam, a huge Google server farm (never seen one of those!) and a lot of golden fields. Met the former mayor of The Dalles and learned a lot about that town’s progress (thus the server farm). Saw Mt Hood and Mt Adams. Lots of elevation gain – 3061 feet.

4 days in and we’re starting to get the hang of this…..👏🚴🚴

  1. Been following your ride, looks like things are going well as you get into your daily routine. Already a few challenges with a tire puncture and dealing with traffic on narrow stretches of road. Keep the spirits up and enjoy the journey.
