Does taking a ferry for 1/10 of a mile across the Ohio River count as cheating???
Great start to the day. The ferry crossing was a fun change of scene, plus the early morning light was cool.
We’re in Kentucky now. And more than 3/4 of the way through our journey’s mileage and days. Also, thank you, to those who have helped us reach 75% of our donation target for the American Cancer Society. It’s not too late if you’re interested in donating. T
o be honest, I’m a bit melancholy to cross over the finish line. This has been such an amazing trip – crazy drivers, mad dogs, Covid and high heat/humidity notwithstanding. I really don’t want it to end. I feel a bit like Forest Gump – “Cycle Tam, Cycle!”
People here and in the Midwest are quilters. They sometimes paint their “family pattern” on the side of their house, barn, or just a sign in front. Sort of like a coat of arms, I suppose.
We had to cut today’s ride short for two reasons:
1.High heat (94) and high humidity (92%)
2.The cyclone/severe weather warning siren went off in Sebree just as we arrived at the car for a break. Time to pack up and head to the hotel. We were pretty wet and wrung out at that point anyway.
A note on dog attack prevention. The whistles AND air horns are working very well. I hate to use the air horns as I don’t want to damage the dog’s ears but if they’re still in attack mode after being loudly whistled at, the air horn is a great final flourish.
Great work you guys!!! Hope Mark is feeling better🙏 what an experience!
